Mr. Roland F. Greenwood Sr., 71, of Lillac Ave., Oakville, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at St. Raphaels Hospital in New Haven after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Maureen J. Greenwood.
Roland was born in Waterbury on Sept. 19, 1937, the son of the late William and Loretta (Paquette) Greenwood. He was educated in the Watertown school system and was employed for more than 30 years as a mechanic at Northeast Utilities – CL& P in Bristol.
He enjoyed camping and gardening and was very proud of his most cherished possession, his 1965 Cadillac convertible. Most of all, he was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.
Roland is survived by five sons, Charles and his wife, Jeannine, of Goshen, Roland Jr. of Oakville, Douglas and his wife, Jacqueline, of Torrington, Jeffrey of Enfield, and David Sr. of Litchfield; two daughters, Susan Clark and her husband, Joseph, of Tolland, Mass., and Kelley Lutz and her husband, Greg, of Torrington. He also leaves his former wife, June Curtiss, of Torrington; three stepchildren, Lynn E. McGuire and her husband, Jay, of Waterbury, David A. Liseo and his wife, Debbie, of Meriden, and Al Liseo Jr. and his wife, Liane, of Southington; a brother, Donald Greenwood of Oakville; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. His son, James Greenwood, is deceased.
Funeral services for Mr. Greenwood will be held 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, from the O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville, to St. Mary Magdalen Church, Buckingham Street, Oakville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.
