WATERBURY — Mr. Ernest A. Cristofano Jr., 60, of Pinehurst Avenue, died peacefully on Tuesday at the Cheshire House.
Mr. Cristofano was born in Waterbury on June 24, 1950, the son of the late Ernest A. Sr. and Marguerite (Giegle) Cristofano. A lifelong resident of Waterbury, Ernest graduated from East Farms Grammar School and Crosby High School, and still enjoyed attending many Crosby High School basketball games. He was a toolmaker by trade and worked at both Scovill Manufacturing and Marson Manufacturing.
Ernie was an avid car enthusiast, and loved to restore and refurbish vintage autos like his 1967 GTX and 1967 Camaro. He enjoyed going to area car shows, but his favorite pastime was spending time by the pool with his family, especially his niece and nephews. He was a parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul Church.
Ernest leaves his siblings, Joan Cabral and her husband, Joseph, and his brother, Joseph Cristofano, all of Waterbury. He also leaves his treasured niece and nephews, Jared Cabral, Jason and Eric Cristofano, Ryan Cabral and Kaylee Cristofano. He will be missed by his canine best friend, Charlie.
Funeral services for Mr. Cristofano will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, from the Casey-O’Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St., Waterbury, to SS. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit today at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.
