NAUGATUCK — Mr. Emile “Frenchie” Marquis, 87, of Hackett Street, Naugatuck, entered into eternal rest joining his wife, Alma (Clavette) Marquis, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in the VITAS Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Mr. Marquis was born in Frenchville, Maine, on March 15, 1925, a son of the late Adolphe and Edith (Gervais) Marquis. He was a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Naugatuck where he lived for the past 11 years. He retired from the City of Waterbury after 27 years of service as a mechanic. He leaves two sons, Roger Marquis and his wife, June, of Massachusetts, David Marquis of Waterbury; four daughters, Rachel Carpentier and her husband, Paul, of Waterbury, Joanne Avoletta and her husband, Peter, of Torrington, Lisa Piesyna and her husband, Gregory, of Naugatuck, Diane Marquis and her husband, Dan Kean, of Naugatuck; three sisters, Jeanette Lewis of Bristol, Rita Barriault of Nevada, and Mary Anne Marquis of Winsted; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Guildo Marquis, a brother and two sisters. His funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to the Shrine of Saint Anne for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
