OAKVILLE — Robert C. Spagnola, age 78, of Radnor Lane, died Nov. 23, 2012, at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Eleanor (Pellack) Spagnola.
Robert was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Waterbury, a son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Petillo) Spagnola, and lived in Oakville most of his life. He was educated in Waterbury schools. Prior to his retirement, Bob worked as a mechanic at several Waterbury area garages. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves where he also worked as a mechanic.
Bob loved antique cars and spent many sunny days driving around in his 1941 Cadillac convertible; he also loved going to the Robinwood Luncheonette and Mary’s Diner to be with his friends but found his greatest joy spending time with his family.
Besides his loving wife of 51 years of Oakville, he leaves his daughter, Sharon Rosa and her husband, Gabe, of Watertown; two sisters, Sylvia Spagnola of Waterbury and Frances Mikelenas of Naugatuck; a brother, Ted Spagnola of Cheshire; his grandsons, Robert and Joseph Rosa, both of Watertown; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services for Robert will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 9 a.m. at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
