WATERBURY — Mrs. Elida Perrella, 95, formerly of 80 Charles St., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Southbury. She was the widow of former school board president Frank J. Perrella.
Elida was born in Waterbury to Coriolano Corvi and Madalena (Benigni) Corvi on Feb. 3, 1918. She graduated from Maloney Grammar School and attended Waterbury Catholic High School, having to leave to find work to support her family during the Great Depression. She later worked at Winchester Electronics in Watertown, and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church for 60 years.
Elida leaves her son, Frank C. Perrella and his wife, Patricia, of Middlebury, and her daughter, Mrs. Madeline Stango and her husband, Tim, of Watertown. She also leaves her grandchildren, Jeff Stango and his wife, Maria, Tim Stango Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Stephen Stango, Frank Perrella Jr., and Gina Morrison and her husband, Scott. In addition, she leaves great-grandchildren Alyssa, Dylan, Andrew and Delia Stango, and Maggie Perrella. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, along with her brothers-in-law, Antonio Rivaldi, and Joseph Perrella and his wife, Vincenza. She was predeceased by her brother, Delmo, and sisters Sabina (Rita) Rinaldi and Delia Marinelli.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Lutheran Home for its compassion and care for our mother.
The funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Colasanto Funeral Home, 932 Bank St., to St. Patrick’s Church for a Mass. At 10 a.m., burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Elida’s name to the Lutheran Home, 990 Main St. North, Southbury.
