OAKVILLE — Mr. Ronald J. Melko Sr., 72, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Irene (Lagasse) Melko.
Ronald was born in Waterbury on May 15, 1941, son of the late Walter K. and Josephine H. (Gwiazdowski) Melko. He attended Leavenworth High School and worked at Stop and Shop, retiring in 2003 after 41 years. He enjoyed time spent with his family, his winter home in Delray Beach, Fla., and his prized 1954, souped-up Chevy and working with youngsters on their cars, helping them with their Chevrolet Caprice lift kit for example, which of course, he would never have himself, but enjoyed tinkering with them none the less.
Besides his wife of 51 years, he leaves behind a son, Ronald J. Melko Jr. of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Elaine O’Connell and Sharon Hoyt, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; and his precious granddaughter, Sydney K. Melko of Boynton Beach, Fla., whom he was so proud of.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held 8 a.m. Saturday at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to St. Mary Magdalen, Oakville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
