CHESHIRE — Edward Daley, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Maureen (Ashe) Daley.

Edward was born in Newark, N.J., Feb. 24, 1934, to the late Edward and Helen (Anderson) Daley. Mr. Daley attended the Humiston Grammar School in Cheshire, Crosby High School in Waterbury and graduated from the University of Connecticut Storrs Campus, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance. After his time spent with the United States Army, Ed loved to travel on behalf of his employing company, Anaconda American Brass.

After his retirement, he became an avid antique, classic car enthusiast. He loved watching the Grand Prix and international racing. His hobby was rebuilding an original 1968 Midget. Ed is described as being a problem solver and being very analytical, always looking for projects to do around the house. His true love was his family whom he cherished.

Besides his beloved wife of 45 years, Ed leaves a son, Edward M. “Ned” Daley and his wife, Beth, of Wallingford. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Daley.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Franciscan Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden 06451.
