WATERBURY — Teresa M. (Giordano) Kopcha passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of Peter Kopcha.
Mrs. Kopcha was born in Waterbury on April 18, 1924, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Quagliaro) Giordano. She was a longtime resident of Waterbury and graduated from the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Teresa retired from nursing after 45 years of service working both in the Waterbury Hospital operating room and doing private duty nursing. After her retirement, Teresa volunteered at Beacon Brook Health Care Center. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Waterbury for many years.
Teresa was extremely devoted to her family and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Lincoln and her husband Paul of Rhode Island, Cindy Mazurek and her husband, John “Corky” of Wolcott, Patty Kenworthy and her husband Bob of Naugatuck; her sister Carmella Hayden and her husband John of Wolcott; her four grandchildren, Kara and Paul Mazurek, Alicia Kenworthy, Dana Madden and her husband Bill; two great-grandchildren, Billy and Ali Madden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Rocco and Anthony Giordano.
Teresa’s funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a contribution to Rose Hope Animal Refuge, 22 Fieldwood Road, Waterbury, CT 06704, as a tribute to Teresa’s love of animals.
