WATERTOWN – Mrs. Joy P. Hartmann, age 72 of Watertown and formerly of Wanaque, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Monday April 25, 2016 at the Vitas Innovative Healthcare at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the beloved wife of Arthur P. Hartmann.
Joy was born on July 25, 1943 in Paterson, New Jersey and grew up in Little Falls, NJ, the daughter of the late Frederick and Josephine Reichel Diestler. She was employed at ACR Chemical and later OAO in Southbury, CT in information storage technology. Joy was an active volunteer for FIRST robotics Team 237 based out of Watertown High School supporting them at their fundraisers making afghans for raffles and volunteering at the Railroad Museum of New England (RMNE) in Thomaston, CT working the pumpkin patch runs in the fall and dressing up as Mrs. Claus on the train or working the ticket counter for their Northern Lights Limited holiday runs. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading.
Besides her loving husband of 46 years, Joy leaves her son, Jason A. Hartmann of Watertown and a daughter, Tiffany A. Hartmann of Oakville, a brother Dennis Diestler of Andover, NJ.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hartmann will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
