MANCHESTER — Mrs. Gloria (Muscio) Vespoli, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Manchester Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Vespoli.
Mrs. Vespoli was born on April 27, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Domenic and Delia (Pafundi) Muscio. Gloria was a graduate of Wilby High School, Class of 1946. She worked for Redwood Furniture as a Bookkeeper for 20 years before starting her family. Later she worked as a clerk/typist for Colonial Bank for 15 years until her retirement.
Gloria was a sweet woman with a vivacious personality who made friends easily. She and girlfriends nicknamed their group the DAL’s, “Do-A-Lotta” girls and had many good times with them.
Gloria dedicated her life to others. After she married, Gloria and Tony lived with her mom, taking care of her. Gloria was a loving wife to Tony and enjoyed listening to his band as he began his adventure in music. She was a great mom to her daughter, Gina, volunteering at St. Lucy’s School in Waterbury, most notably in the library there. Gloria knew the doors that education could open for her daughter and read to her daughter constantly. Gloria passed along her love of math to Gina. She also was Gina’s first teacher of the Catholic faith. In her later years, Gloria was thrilled to see her daughter become a teacher of both math and religion.
Gloria, along with her husband Tony, enjoyed their annual trips to Lake George and hold a special place in their hearts for the Blue Lagoon Resort where they spent many summers. Most recently, they attended car shows all over the east coast with their classic cars. Gloria was also an avid shopper, and enjoyed mall shopping as well as shopping on QVC. Most of all, spending time with her family brought her the most the joy.
Gloria leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Mark Raymond and their daughters, Lucy and Anna, all of Glastonbury. In addition to Tony, her husband of 56 years, Gloria was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Edward Muscio; and her sisters, Phyllis Zotto, Ann Garbatini and Rose Melchionna.
A special thank you by the family to Apple Rehab in Watertown, Conn. and Manchester Manor in Manchester, Conn. for their loving care.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Dunstan’s Church, 1345 Manchester Rd, Glastonbury, CT 06033, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church.
