WATERTOWN – William J. Cambigue, 82, of Watertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in the VITAS Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Norma (Conner) Cambigue.
Bill was born in Waterbury, Aug. 17, 1935, son of the late Emile and Evelyn (Allen) Cambigue. He was raised in Waterbury and had lived in Watertown for 53 years. He served in the National Guard, was a painting contractor and owned William J. Cambigue & Son.
An antique car enthusiast, specifically cars manufactured by Hudson Motor Co., he was a member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club.
Besides his wife of 60 years, Bill leaves two daughters, Heidi Carroll and her husband, John, of Watertown, and Ann Mantzaris and her husband, John, of Wallingford; a brother, Arthur Cambigue of Tennessee; two sisters, Andrea Lewis of California and Jean Ballancourt of Wolcott; five grandchildren, Nashana Olson, Cassie Salzer, Devin Mantzaris, Paige Mantzaris and Robert Mantzaris; a great-grandson, Ryker Olson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Mark W. Cambigue; a brother, Richard Cambigue; and a sister, Helene Battistone.
