WATERBURY – Edward E. Monnerat, 94, beloved husband of Marion (Brusie) Monnerat, died on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Saint Mary’s Hospital.
He was born in Waterbury on July 12, 1924, the son of the late Joseph and Albertine (Bernier) Monnerat. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a parishioner of the Shrine of St. Anne.
He was an employee of W.J. Megin in Naugatuck and Waterbury Medical Supply. He was a great cook and enjoyed vacations, sailing, the beach and riding his tractor. Many years ago he was a Boy Scout troop leader at St. Anne Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Edward L. Monnerat (retired, Waterbury PD) of Waterbury; daughters Susan and her husband Michael Abbenante, of Conway, S.C., Debra Diblasi of Waterbury, Tracey and her husband Matt Hoffenberg, of Andover, Mass.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law Thomas Diblasi, a granddaughter Denise Harris, a sister Rita Foley and brothers Joseph and Louis Monnerat.
Funeral will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road in Wolcott, to The Shrine of St. Anne for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Visit www.dellavecchiafh.com for online condolences and directions.
