WATERBURY – Duy Ngoc Truong, 30, transitioned from this life into the next after a tragic accident on Sunday, July 14, 2019, while fishing at Hancock Brook Lake in Terryville. He was the loving son of Toai Kim Truong, and stepson of former State Senator Robert G. Dorr.
Duy was born in Rach Gia, Vietnam, on Dec. 5, 1988, to Toai Kim Truong and Tran Thien My. After the death of his father, he emigrated to the United States in 2000, and graduated from Kingsbury School, Westside Middle School and Wilby High School with the class of 2008.
An award winning artist, he became a skilled welder after an internship. Duy could create or repair anything. He was employed at Solutions With Innovation, a Magnetrol Corporation subsidiary in Naugatuck.
He loved motorcycles, outdoor sports, fishing, being with his friends, and was a proud father of Oliver Saunders, age 1.
Besides his son, Oliver, he leaves to cherish his memory, Samantha Saunders, of Waterbury, all of his many classmates, co-workers, several uncles and cousins in Vietnam.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St., Waterbury. Internment will take place at his birthplace, Rach Gia, Vietnam, at a later date_
