WATERTOWN – Lorraine Austin, 93, formerly of Watertown, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019, at Cook Willow Health Center in Plymouth.
She was the widow of Walter J. Austin.
Lorraine was born in Watertown, March 1, 1926, daughter of the late Donat and Smeralda (Gagnon) LeMay.
She was raised in Watertown and was a graduate of St. John’s School, Watertown High School, and Post College. She worked at Heminway & Bartlett Manufacturing Co. for many years before her retirement. She loved to knit, bake, and read and used to enjoy going ballroom dancing.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Douglas Austin and his wife, Helen of Waterbury; three daughters, Joyce Ritucci of Blaine, Wash., Judy Rinaldi and her husband, Anthony of Woodbury, and Meribeth Hambright and her husband, Kenneth of Brookeville, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was predeceased by her three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 29 at 9:15 a.m., from Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., to St. John the Evangelist Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial of ashes will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Monday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.
