Karen M. Flammia, 67, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on January 18. 2024 at Waterbury Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Karen was born April 07, 1956 in Waterbury, a daughter of Mary (Marchiani) Flammia and the late J. John Flammia. She was graduated from Kennedy High School Class of 1974 and attended Briarwood College. She worked as an administrator to the director of Branford Hall (Branford Career Institute) for fifteen years until they closed. She later worked at Rowland Martin Insurance, now World Insurance until becoming ill. Karen loved life, reading, being at the beach but most importantly her family. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid bowler. She loved football and followed both the men’s and women’s UConn Basketball teams. Karen was a lecturer and communicant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for many years and looked forward to volunteering at the feast every summer.
Besides her mother Mary of Waterbury, she leaves to honor and cherish her memory: a brother, John Flammia of Waterbury; and a niece, Melissa Flammia and her fiancé Carlo Acompora of Waterbury. She is also survived by her aunt Sue and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends all of whom she was very close. Besides her father she was predeceased by her brother, Kenny Flammia.
Arrangements: Funeral Thursday January 25, 2024 from Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 785 Highland Avenue Waterbury for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
