Reverend Dr. Paul David Krampitz, 65, of Cromwell, husband of Paula (Pawlowski) Krampitz, died Wednesday September 18, 2024, as result of injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Meriden, the son of Ferdinand “Fritz” and Esther (Brenner) Krampitz of North Haven. Paul served with the US Army and then went on to graduate from Yale Divinity School and Hartford Seminary, where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree. He also completed a year of study at the Lutheran School of Theology at Philadelphia. Before becoming Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell, he served congregations in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Paul is a past Dean of the Southern CT and Central CT Conferences, served on the New England Synod Council and Candidacy Committee and served as the Chaplain for Luther Ridge of Middletown. Trained in Natural Church Development and Church Coaching, he has served as a consultant and retreat facilitator for numerous congregations interested in redevelopment and visioning.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Zoë, Zaidan, and Zachary Krampitz of Cromwell, Christina Krampitz of New Britian, Maria Krampitz and her children Isabella and Liam of Clinton; sister, Linda Krampitz (Randy) of Arizona; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Maryanne Pawlowski of Waterbury; sister in-law Suzanne Hamel (John) of Wolcott; nieces Shaelyn and Keira Hamel of Wolcott; nephew Matthew (Kristen) Margolis of Middlefield ; and niece Mallory (Steven) Thorp of California; his Bethany Lutheran Church Parishioners; his brothers in the Punishers and many friends throughout the State.
Community involvement was important to Paul. He served as Chaplain to the CT State Police, the Cromwell Police Department and Cromwell Fire Department. Paul was also an active member of the Connecticut State Police Critical Incident Stress Management Debriefing Team, and supported State Troopers, local police departments, and communities work through tragedy to find healing. Paul was a member of The Wethersfield Rocky Hill Elks Lodge #2308, where you could often find him visiting friends and enjoying the company of others. Paul was a former member of the Elks Riders, and was the President and Chaplain of the Big Iron Chapter of the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, which he co-founded with his best friend Daniel Pratt and his motorcycle brothers Jeff Cater, Doug Watrous, Rob Lucia, Joe Brelsford, and Kevin Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 50 Court St., Cromwell. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at Bethany Lutheran Church on Friday September 27, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell or to the Punisher’s 31st Chapter.
