WATERTOWN, Conn. (WTNH)– This Veterans Day, tributes across the state honored America’s heroes past and present.
Students and staffers at the Porter and Chester Institute in Watertown placed 300 American flags on a grassy hill near the campus Tuesday. Each one honors someone in the campus community or a member of their family who has served in the military.
“We thought what a better, fitting way than to give flags to the students and honor the people they choose to, and what they did was put names on the flags and we’re going to immortalize that on our wall of honor,” said John Goldbeck, campus director.
The school also raised $2,100 through its annual classic car show, which is being given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
